Jumpsuit Yourself

Tailored jumpsuits have been spotted on runways, on celebrities, and now even on Second Life avatars.

If the words “tailored jumpsuit” instantly cause images of an auto-mechanic’s heinous blue one-piece, or those orange jailbird jumpsuits that are also all the rage among Hollywood starlets, don’t worry; it’s not a look I would dream of endorsing! This look is hot and there’s nothing masculine about it. Celebrities including Pamela Anderson, Scarlett Johanson, Ashley Olsen and Kelly Rowland have been spotted in the new look and none of them look like they’re planning an afternoon underneath their luxury cruisers or behind bars for that matter.

Cut It Out

Realistic, life-size cardboard cut-outs of children are being used in a Northeastern Ohio neighborhood to slow down speeding cars. Mike Wood of West Salem, Ohio says that he originally started printing life-size posters of grandchildren for their grandparents. The darn things look so real, though, that they effectively slow traffic to a safe speed. Mr. Wood is now selling the children props for $60 a piece. People are stopping to buying them and he is even getting calls from police stations and neighborhood associations. This is very similar to the Fake Prostitutes, which are cardboard cut out signs used to drive down rising rent prices. If you are not a property owner and you fight against the unfair rises in the rents month after month, the solution is knocking at your door: fill the neighborhood with prostitutes!

What About Mob?

Joining similar personal style networks StyleDiary and ShareYourLook is StyleMob, a new social networking site with a fashion bent. Tapping into the consumer penchant for street style seen in popular sites such as Street Peeper, The Sartorialist, and Facehunter, the site enables anyone to become the next Internet style star a la Cobra Snake muse Cory Kennedy. Users create profiles where they upload photos of themselves modeling their self-styled ensembles, accompanied by details on each item and a backstory about the outfit. Other members of the community then give feedback via a MySpace-style comments section. While it seems that this could be a breeding ground for cattiness, constructive criticism abounds and is welcomed, thus far. The site is currently in Beta, so changes may occur, but I expect it will be a great source not only for consumers looking for attainable style inspiration, but also for brands looking to see how consumers are wearing their clothes.

Peep Show

Street Peeper is a fashion site that brings you photos of street fashion from around the globe. Check out what hipsters are wearing to parties and openings from Amsterdam to Zurich. It's sort of like the Cobra Snake only it's not just party photos of 20 year olds who do a lot of coke - the site lists what each person is wearing and lets you search via tags.

Two Faced

You know the saying, what happens in Brooklyn, will be happening everyone else really soon. Brooklyn based HeadHoods is really turning heads (puns always intended) with some of his samples on the streets. According to their website, they will be coming to a hood near you soon. But my question is, would you wear one?

Lesbian Street Gangs

Fox News is reporting that lesbian street gangs are terrorizing American cities. Terrorist threat or every guy's wildest fantasy? I'll let you decide.

All I can say is I'm sure the police are working hard to lick the problem. (Sorry, sometimes I just can't stop myself!)
